GREAT DESIGN MATTERS.

The conference will accept abstracts of early concepts in the field of devices for minimally invasive surgery, software for computer-assisted surgery, and robotically-assisted procedures. Formal studies or experimental data are not mandatory.

Abstracts can be submitted by an individual or a team. Partners from different disciplines are likely to be more competitive. To enter the competition participants must register online and submit their entry forms and projects material by the respective deadlines.

Submitted papers will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Finalists will be notified via e-mail so that they should prepare materials for the in-person contest:
• on Friday July 14th, during the B.E.S.T. INNOVATION SYMPOSIUM 2017 in Taichung (IRCAD TAIWAN),
• on Friday August 25th, during the B.E.S.T. INNOVATION SYMPOSIUM 2017 in Strasbourg (IHU STRASBOURG-IRCAD FRANCE).

Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work in the format of a scientific poster session with a 5 minutes short pitch to an international panel of leading medical technology innovators and entrepreneurs.

THE JUDGE’S PANEL WILL BASE THEIR DECISION
UPON FIVE FACTORS

01. QUALITY OF CLINICAL NEEDS STATEMENT (PROBLEM).
02. TECHNICAL SOUDNESS OF RESEARCH (SOLUTION).
03. PRESENTATION QUALITY.
04. AVAILABILITY OF A PROTOTYPE.
05. FUNDABILITY.

B.E.S.T. INNOVATION CONTEST recognizes and rewards students and young entrepreneurs who identify a real-world problem and apply engineering, science, computing, and leadership skills to solve it.

The B.E.S.T. INNOVATION CONTEST offers a €500 prize for the student/team with the most market-ready innovation.

Selected authors will also be invited to submit a paper manuscript of their abstract to a special IRCAD section in the journal Surgical Innovation.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the official B.E.S.T. INNOVATION course final program to be distributed onsite.
